What to expect

Clinical Pilates
SportsCare and Physiotherapy offers a variety of Pilates classes and programs through their Dickson, Weston and Barton clinics.

They run group Mat and Equipment classes regularly throughout the week. They are physiotherapist run classes with a focus on core strength and general conditioning. The classes run for 45 minutes and are claimable through your private health fund. All participants must do a quick assessment with a physiotherapist before commencing classes.

The Running Lab
Are you a runner, triathlete or multi-sport athlete interested in:
· run specific strengthening?
· run specific drills for balance and co-ordination?
· improving your running form?

SportsCare and Physiotherapy offer 6 week small group based program for runners of all levels, triathletes and multi-sport athletes.

The SportsCare and Physiotherapy Run Program is supervised by a qualified Physiotherapist. It covers aspects of basic running posture, balance, flexibility & strength. There is a strong emphasis on core strength and education to give participants the skills to progress their own running. Each week has a different focus; from basic running form to sprinting, and hill and trail running.

Core Strength Assessment
Dynamic core stability is the ability of the body to use various muscles in complex ways to control movement around the pelvis, lower trunk and abdomen. Core stability allows for optimum posture both when stationary and with activity, and also helps to reduce the risk of injury. Poor core stability results in poor posture, inefficient transfer of power from the upper body to the lower and vice versa, and a marked increase in the risk of injuries to many body areas including the low back and pelvis, mid-back and neck, and the lower limbs. Many types of injury can adversely affect the capacity of the stabilising muscles resulting in reduced core stability, which may then result in an increased risk of re-injury or further injury. Hence, the retraining of the core stabilising muscles is often a critical part of any rehabilitation program.
