Angélique Kidjo

I like to tell people that if you don’t know Angélique, you haven’t lived because there’s not one person who would be in her presence and not be changed.” – Alicia Keys

Only days after her performance at Bluesfest 2015, the angelic voice of International sensation, Angélique Kidjo is coming to Canberra for the first time in April 2015. Angélique is one of the greatest forces in African music; her passion for her homeland and expressions of female empowerment comes through in her music through rich and powerful song.

Her latest album Eve is dedicated to the women of Africa and the title is inspired by her mother. The album has seen great success on an international scale climbing its way to Number 1 on the Billboard World Chart. Her Eve tour is coming to the Nation’s Capital, at the Canberra Theatre for one night only.

Eve celebrates African womanhood, all the while brimming with Kidjo’s trademark warmth, positivity and funk, which never fails to instigate dancing.” – Jazmine O’Sullivan, The Music

Angélique Kidjo is a tireless campaigner for women’s health and education in Africa, a UNICEF Peace Ambassador and also, with a 20 year discography, 12 albums and thousands of concerts around the world, a gifted performer and prolific songwriter.
