Canberra Balloon Spectacular

It’s up, up in the air across the skies of Canberra for the annual Canberra Balloon Spectacular from 7 to 15 March.

You can book a spot on a balloon flight and join the massed early morning balloon take off on the lawns in front of Old Parliament House and drift gently across Lake Burley Griffin or just enjoy the spectacle from the ground.

The stunning display of hot air balloons includes special novelty shapes inflating at dawn and drifting over the city’s iconic national attractions. It’s a feast of images for photographers with shapes and colour filling the sky against early morning light for nine days.

Canberra is one of the few places in the world where hot air balloons can fly so close to the houses of government and buildings of national significance.

Enjoy the festival atmosphere on the ground. Arrive early before dawn to watch balloons being inflated and taking shape.  Enjoy the mass launch and be entertained with live music over breakfast at the event hub where you can purchase food on site, or bring your own.
