Canberra Cavalry vs Perth Heat for DVCS

Canberra Milk and Canberra Cavalry are excited to announce they have joined forces to support the Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) this 2017/18 ABL season.

“The Domestic Violence Crisis Service provides an incredibly important service to our local community. Canberra Milk have been proud supporters of DVCS for two years now and we are happy to continue that support into 2018. This year we are continuing to provide them with financial and non-financial support, but with a twist” says Canberra Milk Managing Director, David Tyack.

Chief Executive Officer of Canberra Cavalry, Donn McMichael said “This year we have a number of new pitchers on the roster, so we thought we would put them to good use. Each time one of our pitches score a strike out at our home series against Perth this weekend, Canberra Milk will donate $500 to DVCS. We are honoured to be involved in this capacity and our guys are thrilled to be part of this initiative.”

“This is also a great opportunity for DVCS to receive exposure to a group of people who might not have otherwise been exposed to the work we do, or indeed that they exist. We have already expended the budgeted money the ACT Government provides to spend on emergency accommodation for this financial year, so this donation is incredibly important. We will always aim to put someone into emergency accommodation if that is what is required, with the immediate safety of all family members being the first priority. The sort of non-financial support we receive from initiatives like this is invaluable as well, in particular as we move into our busiest time of year, it is a perfect time to share this great news” said DVCS Chief Executive Office, Mirjana Wilson.

Canberra Cavalry play against Perth Heat this weekend, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7pm and the final game on Sunday 17 December at 2pm at the MIT Ballpark in Narrabundah. The Cavs, Canberra Milk and DVCS encourages everyone to get along to the games to show their support for this initiative and our local ABL team. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or online via the Canberra Cavalry website.
