Autumn Handmade Market

The Handmade Market is on again to showcase the best of Australian design – but this time there’s a new location!

The weekend of Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March will see 180 designers display their works for the first time at Exhibition Park in Canberra.

The award winning market will be the biggest event yet. Julie Nichols, Founder of The Handmade Market says, the move to EPIC is all about space.

“More space to grow, more space for stallholders, more space for customers and more space to park.  The new venue has allowed us to recreate our look and feel and really breath some new life into what we do,” she says.

“Feedback from customers and stallholders was that we were getting too crowded and although being busy is good for a market, getting too busy is a real concern.”

The Handmade Market has certainly changed since the very first market, where there were just 36 stalls.

“We now have 180 and a waitlist of another 100 stalls for each event. We had 2000 customers to our first event and have had over 22000 at our last Christmas Market” says Julie.

“We used to be one day and are now two days trade. Change is good but I am really proud to say that lots of things have not changed; we still offer a friendly market with only Australian made, handmade items.”

Visitors to the market can expect an ‘epic’ offering – only Australian Handmade goods.

“We have everything from Gourmet Food, Homewares, accessories, artworks, outdoor sculptures, kids clothing and toys, fashion for men and women, skincare etc.”

You can check out some of the newbies on the Handmade Canberra blog here and here.

Parking is free at the event and there are ATMs on site.
