Old Canberra Inn’s Rockabilly Revival Launch

What do you do when a pub that has been open since 1857 comes up for sale? You grab it by the horns and throw one hell of a party. Well, that’s what The Meem Collective partners Nick Diver and Ben Johnston have done anyway. Excited by the opportunity to turn a heritage venue older than Canberra itself into the city’s favourite local, Saturday 11th of April, the team kick starts a new era for The Old Canberra Inn with the Rockabilly Relaunch.

With live music from the finest collection of rockers, bluesman and floor fillers in THE FUELERS, THE KING HITS, Novocastrian cult heroes BAD LUCK KITTY and THE GROOVE KINGS, The Old Canberra Inn will be transformed into a flurry of old time tunes splashed and smashed against bold new energy.

As if the delectable dishing out of rock n’ roll wasn’t enough The Old Canberra Inn refuses to pull punches. Flooding the beer garden with Retro Markets fresh off the streets of Sydney’s firing from 11am for an exclusive chance to kit yourself out with vintage and retro inspired clothing, jewelry, accessories, homewares, limited edition posters, signage and men’s grooming products. The Old Canberra Inn’s new head chef, Jeff Hudgin, shows his wares cooking up free range pork belly rolls fresh off the spit and there’s free popcorn for the ankle biters. Bringing little ones? All good, a brand new tailor made kids zone has been built just for them to do their own rock n roll thing in.

Shaping up to be a day of festival sized proportions, Rockabilly Relaunch, is set to showcase everything the new Old Canberra Inn sets out to achieve and everything Canberra has been screaming for in it’s local. Great live music from an array of genres, amazing food sourced locally and a rotation of craft beers flowing ice cold from the taps.

With every Sunday from here on in The Old Canberra Inn will be offering live music as a part of the woodwork. From 3pm everyone who is anyone in folk, blues, rock n’ roll and chilled out acoustic singers will make The Old Canberra Inn their home, whilst you sit back sipping $6 ciders served all day long.

Talking of cider and killer live music, if you’d fancy a chance to win yourself TWO FULL SEASON PASSES TO THE NATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL worth over $650… The Old Canberra Inn are giving you just that chance. Simply buy a schooner of Hills Cider before 1st April to go in the draw and win courtesy of Hills Cider.
