Screening of ‘Coal – Is it worth it?’

Canberra’s first screening of the documentary, Coal – Is it worth it? is scheduled to take place at Palace Electric Cinema at 6.30pm on Tuesday 19 September.

This is a crowdfunded event and unlike a traditional movie showing, at least 55 tickets must be reserved by 4 September for the screening to occur.

Coal – Is it worth it? is the work of veteran filmmaker John Davis who tragically died in a helicopter crash while trying to expose damage caused by the Shenhua coal mine, and was completed by his friends and family in his memory. The documentary shows the effect of coal on the land and air and documents the experiences and views of some inspirational people who convey hope and knowledge to protect the environment for future generations.

Following the screening, there will be a Q&A discussion with a panel comprising Shane Rattenbury MLA, Edwina Robinson from SEE-Change and Rod Campbell from the Australia Institute.
