Cartel Tacos to open in Belconnen
Keen Instagram followers of Cartel Tacos’ matriarch Anna Petridis were quick to jump on an Instagram story that (accidentally) mentioned work is underway to open a Belconnen venue in October.
In more happy news, she’s also looking for a home for Crack Bakery elsewhere in Canberra.
As soon as we have the details, we’ll share the news!
Is Milky Lane coming back?
A rather cryptic post on Milky Lane’s Instagram exclaiming ‘Same place // new owners // The Milky Lane you always deserved is coming’ led to feverish speculation as to which of the fully-loaded burger chain’s venues might be making a comeback.
Eagle-eyed followers pointed out a distinctive Parliament House structure in the background of the post, leading many to speculate that Canberra is the chosen city.
We can now confirm that Milky Lane is indeed moving back to their old Braddon digs at 21 Lonsdale Street in late April.
Coming full circle at Ottoman
Despite news in 2021 that they were moving to a new location, Ottoman Cuisine has recently announced that they’re moving full circle – back to the Barton space they occupied for many years.
Much-lauded for their elevated take on Turkish, the new venue is due to open in May.
Red Hill (the top of the actual hill) to become a dining destination
In more ‘everything old is new again’ news, Tracy Keeley (Pollen, Bookplate) has snapped up the former Carousel Restaurant at the summit of Red Hill and is transforming it into two Italian venues.
Lunetta and Lunetta Trattoria are set to open later this year.
eightysix South introduces $55 three-course menu

For $55pp you can enjoy a big plate of antipasti, pasta of your choice (choose one per person), a side and their tiramisu to finish. Everything for the table to share.
Pro-tip… the espresso butter slathered on their focaccia with thinly sliced prosciutto is a surprisingly heavenly combination!

Kambah’s Cafe Blanco to open nights
