Meet the Canberra woman urging women* to write an anonymous letter to their most intimate parts this weekend

One letter can change the world. That’s the driving force behind Free The V, a groundbreaking project initiated by Canberran Danielle Dal Cortivo.

With the goal of sparking a global conversation, Free The V aims to publish a book featuring 100 heartfelt letters from women* to their vaginas.

This Sunday 16 July 2023, Danielle will host two free online Global Write A Letter To Your Vagina Workshops, empowering gatherings designed to facilitate self-exploration and acceptance.

This transformative workshop invites women* from all walks of life to participate in an intimate journey of letter writing to their most private parts.

“Our relationship with our vaginas is unique and complex,” explains Danielle.

“Whether it symbolises pleasure, motherhood, sexuality, loss, pain, or even trauma, our vaginas play a significant role in our lives. Free The V provides a safe and creative outlet for women* to explore and express the depths of their connections with their vaginas, vulvas, sexuality, and self-expression.”

“Our society has inherited many conversations around the female body—dictating what they’re used for, what they shouldn’t be used for, how we should feel about them.”

“But what if those narratives are limiting us? What if we could rewrite that conversation and break free from shame, stigma, comparison, and criticism? What if all it took was writing a letter?”

Danielle Dal Cortivo.

While event participants do not have to give their letter to Free The V, Danielle encourages participants to consider contributing to the project with the ultimate vision is to compile a thought-provoking book containing 100 letters, slated for publication by the end of 2023.

“Free The V stands as a powerful women’s empowerment, a place for inquiry and new conversations. Writing a letter is a powerful tool of self-reflection to influence global impact,” affirms Danielle.

The event is free to attend, and participants can donate to a charity that supports women around the world.
