Party for a Purpose: The Bodia Group comes to Canberra
Posted on
Many of us go on volunteer trips to do good and feel good, but it’s not every day that a fully-fledged charity is born from one.
Cambodia doesn’t get the same tourist attention when compared to its neighbouring countries, but it hosts enough charm, warmth and allure to keep any traveller engulfed for weeks.
The Bodia Group was established in 2015 by Brisbane sibling duo Yann and Naomi Sinclair after their first trip to Cambodia, where enduring connections were made and deep roots were planted. Since then, it has flourished into an eleven-volunteer nationally registered charity that is always evolving, and is launching into Australia’s capital city this November.
What sets us apart is we’re driven by direct, tangible change that we make on the ground, in person. Starting with investing in rural farms to promoting local economic development, to focusing our attention on the education deficit rampant around the country, we have honed our direction over the years to invest in what will truly make a long-term difference in the lives of many Cambodians – education.
The Cambodia Bright Futures fund is our scholarship program that invests in bright high school students facing extreme poverty. We are very proud to have 44 students currently enrolled in undergraduate degrees thanks to our fund. Every student is the first in their family to study at tertiary level.
Fast-forward four extremely successful Brisbane fundraising balls later and we’re thrilled to launch into the vibrant Canberra scene with our debut event on Friday 24 November! Mark your diaries – The Bodia Cocktail at Deakin & Me is set to be the ultimate lead in to the silly season.
Our mission is to enrol even more students in 2024 with funds raised from this 100-person exclusive event, which means you’ll be partying for a purpose.
With sensational raffle prizes up for grabs from generous local Canberra names including The Marion, Lonsdale Street Roasters, Ramen Daddy, The National Portrait Gallery and more, it’s set to be a wonderous evening.
Your ticket will include free drinks until late, gourmet eats, DJs spinning tracks and other live entertainment!
