The end of an era at Canberra Hospital Foundation

Posted on

This month, Canberra Hospital Foundation (CHF) bids farewell to Deborah (Debbie) Rolfe AM as she retires from her role as Chairperson, marking the end of a remarkable tenure of service.

Deborah Rolfe has been a steadfast presence at the Canberra Hospital Foundation since 2010, assuming the role of Chairperson in 2011. Her unwavering commitment and leadership have played a pivotal role in CHF’s growth and success in supporting specialized equipment, research initiatives, and therapeutic programs aimed at enhancing the hospital experience for patients and families across the Canberra region.

In her retirement announcement, Deborah expressed gratitude for the privilege of serving the community’s health and well-being for over a decade, underscoring the rewarding nature of her professional journey. She passes the baton to Susan Proctor, confident in her ability to carry forward CHF’s mission with new energy and vision.

As Deborah’s colleagues reflect, her involvement in CHF activities extended beyond her leadership role.

“She was always willing to roll up her sleeves and get involved,” says Louiza Blomfield, Community Engagement Executive. “With her own brand of enthusiasm and a sense of fun fostering camaraderie and teamwork within the organisation.”

Throughout her time with CHF, Deborah, alongside her husband, Richard Rolfe, AM, has been recognized with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for their significant contributions to various charitable causes, including medical and social welfare foundations.

Stepping into the role of Chairperson is Susan Proctor, an esteemed commercial lawyer and Deputy Chair of CHF since 2023. With over 20 years of experience and a dedication to community service, Susan brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role, promising to continue CHF’s mission of enhancing healthcare in the Canberra region.

As Deborah embarks on her well-deserved retirement, the CHF team expresses deep gratitude for her immense contributions and wishes her all the best in her future endeavours.

“The whole team is excited to work with Susan to build upon Deb’s legacy, and to continue to fulfill CHF’s mission,” says Community Engagement Director Jazmeen Payne.
