It’s time: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia

Hayley O'Neill

This week Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia (MBFWA) will see more than 70 national designers showcase their 2015/16 Spring/Summer collections at Sydney’s Carriageworks. But what’s super exciting is that HerCanberra will be bringing you the daily insights straight from the catwalk to your computer screen to update you on the fashion trends before they hit stores.

As we prepare to see MBFWA launch its 20th year we must acknowledge the events that happen all around the nation showcasing our cities best local designers giving them exposure on a national level needed to showcase at MBFWA, which reaches a global market.

FASHFEST, the ultimate fashion event for Canberra designers, is one of the events that enables the pinnacle of the invite-only Australian fashion event, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia.

Proving Australia’s position as a market for burgeoning designer talent, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia will showcase the Spring/Summer 2015/16 Collections from a variety of designers covering almost every letter of the alphabet and including some labels you may already be familiar with — akira, alice McCALL, Bec & Bridge, CS Edit x Kirrily Johnston, Cynthia Francisca, Ginger & Smart, Jack Huang,  Mariam Seddiq, Misha Collection, One Fell Swoop, Steven Khalil, SWAROVSKI, Ten Pieces, TOME,  Vanessa Moe, Zhivago, Zingiber and 580 to name a few.

“With the celebration of 20 Years of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, our focus has been on reflecting upon the immense and diverse design talent that is evident year-on-year,” says Emily Weight, Director of Strategy and Brand, IMG Fashion.

“From its humble beginnings in 1996, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia remains Australia’s greatest fashion platform and the launch pad of Australian designers on to a global stage.”

If you don’t want to miss out on all of the action, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia will once again be hosting their Weekend Edition where they will open the doors for ticket holders to experience Fashion Week from a front-row perspective and preview the Spring/Summer 2015/16 Collections just days after they premiere on the runway.

Hosted on Saturday 18 April and Sunday 19 April 2015 at Carriageworks, tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
