ENLIGHTEN

Canberra’s popular after dark festival ENLIGHTEN returns in autumn to illuminate the nation’s capital between 27 February and 7 March 2015.

The normally quiet Parliamentary Triangle transforms into a vibrant hive of activity with free entertainment including street artists, theatrical and musical performances against a backdrop of stunning architectural projections on iconic Canberra buildings.

A highlight for visitors is when cultural institutions, which house the Australian National Collections, open their doors into the night. You can easily stroll between venues to share in free and ticketed events including live performances, tours and exhibitions.

Connecting the institutions including The National Library of Australia, Questacon – The National Science and Technology Centre, The National Portrait Gallery, The Museum of Democracy at Old Parliament House, Parliament House, The National Museum of Australia and The National Gallery of Australia is a vibrant hub with food stalls, entertainment stages and roving performers.

The festival happens every autumn, one of Canberra’s most colourful seasons. Deciduous trees turn into a kaleidoscope of colour. Sunny days blend into mild nights and the city takes on a party mood. March is also when Canberra celebrates its founding day with a month of events including the Canberra Balloon Spectacular, and Canberra Day.
