Dating with dogs is coming to Canberra

Ever swiped right on a picture of someone with a dog, because of the dog?
According to a new dating concept coming to Canberra, dogs get you dates – so much so that they’re building an entire event out of it.
Dating with Dogs kicks off on Sunday 6 May at Capital Brewing Co for an afternoon of tail wagging fun, banter and maybe some sparks.
“Dogs make you more approachable and show that you can take care of someone other than yourself – making you my fellow dog-loving friend, a diamond in the ruff,” attests event organiser Tatum Brown.
So how exactly does one date with dogs? The concept is simple. Rock up to Capital Brewing Co with a dog or without and get mingling!
Behind the event is the Adopt Don’t Shop Foundation, which has teamed up with Best Friends Pet Rescue and Capital Brewing Co to bring Canberra a fun and flirty afternoon of dating.
“While it is most certainly a BYOD (bring your own dog) event, don’t get your tails in a knot if you don’t have your own furry friend,” says Tatum. “Our pals over at Best Friends Pet Rescue will be bringing along some very cute foster pups for you to fuss over!”
Tickets include a drink, nibbles for you and your fur baby and lots of doggos for you to pet and perhaps use as an icebreaker.
Even if you don’t meet the love of your life, with 50% of profits from ticket sales going to Best Friends Pet Rescue, you’ll feel good about being there.
As for the demographic, Taum says “the event is for straight (ish) singles between 30 and 40, keeping in mind that dog-friendly hoomans and dogs are key to us all having a barking mad time!”
