Four reasons to get along to Friday Night Drinks at Old Parliament House
Posted on
One of the many gifts that the warmer months give us are those balmy evenings that seem to go on forever.
And there’s no better time to take advantage of them than on a Friday. A Canberra must-do during spring and summer, Friday Night Drinks at Old Parliament House kicked off last week and, let’s be honest, it’s not going to take much to convince your work colleagues to join you.
With seating across Old Parliament House’s gorgeous Senate Courtyard and its adjoining restaurant Hoi Polloi, Friday Night Drinks is an all-weather event, and the expansive venue means that large groups are welcomed, no matter the size. With its Parliamentary Triangle location, lots of parking and regular public transport access it’s also a perfect meeting place.
Want even more reasons to get along? We have four (but we’re certain you’ll find more!).
SPRITZ UP YOUR SUMMER
What’s better than an Aperol Spritz to start your weekend? How about a jug of Aperol Spritz to share among friends? Each Friday will hero a different cocktail jug, with tipples like Pimms and Aperol on the list, so you can raise a glass to the weekend in style.
POP GOES THE SNACKS
What’s a weekend wind down without the right snacks? Old Parliament House are pulling out all the stops when it comes to matching summer drinks with a tasty accompaniment—think a popcorn machine, ice creams and antipasto share bowls.
PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM
Live music adds a sense of ambience like nothing else, so Friday Night Drinks will be serving up live DJ sets and performances across summer to make sure you always have the perfect soundtrack for your Friday night.
THE HAPPIEST OF HOURS
We think Friday nights are the happiest of hours regardless, but if you get to Friday Night Drinks between 4.30 and 5.30pm, you’ll find a handful of cheeky happy hour deals, including $5 house beer or wine. As if you needed an excuse to leave work early.
