The executive producer of The Matrix is coming to Canberra

Are you ready to take the red pill, Canberra? Remember, all we’re offering is the truth, nothing more.
This September and November, The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia (NFSA) is celebrating the best of 20th-century science fiction with a season of retro classic films and restored prints during Spectacular Sci-Fi 79-99.
And who better to kick it off than special guest Andrew Mason, Executive Producer of The Matrix?
Easily one of the most referenced films of the ’90s, this year marks the 20th anniversary of The Matrix.
You probably know Neo’s signature moves (and needed some physio after trying to recreate them yourself), but did you know that The Matrix was shot mostly in Sydney?
Twenty years on, the NFSA will celebrate the many Australians who crafted this landmark film–from production to VFX to costume design and sound effects–with Executive Producer Andrew Mason appearing for a Q&A after the screening on Saturday 14 September.
If Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley is more your kind of hero, on Friday 20 September the NFSA will be showing a double feature to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Alien, presented on 35mm film.
Relive the USCSS Nostromo and its crew landing on LV-426, and how audiences were introduced to Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley and if you’d like an even deeper look, stick around for Memory: The Origin of Alien, a must-see film for any Alien fan.
Memory: The Origin of Alien unearths the largely untold story behind Alien in documentary format. Discover amazing never-before-seen materials including rejected designs and storyboards and behind the scenes footage.
Always feel a need to GET TO THA CHOPPA? Relax with some Arnie classics, The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day and bask in retro Harrison Ford with Blade Runner: The Final Cut.
