FARRAH LIQUOR COLLECTIVE’S ONCE-A-YEAR LIQUOR WAREHOUSE SALE

After the silly season, it’s understandable if your wine rack or liquor cabinet is looking a tad depleted.

Luckily there’s an epic once-a-year liquor sale on this weekend where you can not only get some outrageously good deals, you can also taste a huge range of craft beers, wines and spirits (more than 100 of them in fact).

Farrah’s Liquor Collective opened up in Fyshwick in June 2019, bringing a brand new way of shopping for liquor to Canberra.

The massive 2400 square metres warehouse space houses an enormous array of wines, spirits and beers—some of which have never been for sale in Canberra before.

With the products already discounted year-round, it’s a great place to stock up any time, but on Saturday 8 February, Farrah’s Liquor Collective is launching their annual warehouse sale—and offering even further discounts.

Customers can stock up and take advantage of discounts including 15 per cent off any 12 bottles or more of wine, 20 per cent off all 4/6 packs of craft beer, and 5 per cent off all spirits—that’s off the already heavily reduced prices.

On the day there will be over 100 products available to taste, and headlining the spirit tasting is Doug van Tienen from Whisky Live, who will take customers through a specialised range of craft spirits from around the world.

Happening Saturday 8 February from 10 am–4.30 pm at Farrah Liquor Collective, Unit 1A, 8-20 Townsville Street, Fyshwick.

EYE TO EYE

Credit: Miranda Otto, 1997, Montalbetti+Campbell

Eye to Eye is a summer Portrait Gallery Collection remix arranged by degree of eye contact – from turned away with eyes closed all the way through to right-back-at-you – as we explore artists’ and subjects’ choices around the direction of the gaze. The progression of visages is designed to prompt the senses, tapping into the endless subjectivity of being human.

Where one viewer sees a subject’s distant stare as baleful, another perceives a fatalistic cheer; here’s a face in three quarter profile pondering past triumphs, or perhaps you sense a layer of barely-there regret? Does the full stare with smouldering countenance shock or seduce, or is it a bit of both?

Whether sparking familiarity, empathy, diffidence or reverence, our summer collection show invites you to slow down – to see eye to eye with another life and imagine that lived experience. Eye to Eye features portraits of Natalie Imbruglia, Kev Carmody, Miranda Otto, David Williamson, a marble bust of Peter Garrett and many more, including several works new to the collection.

Happening until 16 February 2020 at the National Portrait Gallery.

See portrait.gov.au/exhibitions/eye-to-eye-2019 for more information.

AMANDA PALMER: THERE WILL BE NO INTERMISSION

Amanda Palmer’s third solo LP, There Will Be No Intermission is the multi-faceted artist’s most powerful and personal collection to date, with songs that tackle the big questions: life, death, grief and how we make sense with it all.

Somber yet exultant, There Will Be No Intermission presents still more dimensions to Amanda Palmer’s already voluminous talent, once again confirming her as a master songwriter at the height of considerable power.

This one-of-a-kind artist has miraculously moulded humour, tears, confession, and naked personal pain into a matchless piece of work that could very well have been morose and gloomy but is, instead, deeply relatable, healing and inspiring.

The touring show itself will feature Palmer on solo piano and ukulele, with no band accompaniment; a night of graphic, honest, and funny storytelling.

Happening Friday 7 September at the Canberra Theatre Centre, London Circuit, Canberra City.

See canberratheatrecentre.com.au for more information.
