Mookie to open new Tuggeranong store this Saturday

Burger lovers rejoice! Popular Canberra burger joint Mookie is opening a second store on the southside, in Tuggeranong’s South.Point shopping centre this Saturday.

Yep, that’s right. From this Saturday 1 February, southsiders will no longer have to cross the bridge for their fix of Japanese fusion burgers, cheesy loaded fries, and loaded desserts.

The Grand Opening Party will be a great opportunity to beat the heat with Mookie’s signature desserts, but it’ll also be a chance to support those keeping us safe this bushfire season, with 50% of profits from purchases on the day going towards bushfire relief initiatives in partnership with Gungahlin’s The G Spot.

There will also be cash donations available on the day and every paying customer will go in the running to win a $500 Mookie voucher.

Mookie’s new store will reflect elements from the flagship city store, the menu incorporating old favourites from the city menu with new offerings for the Tuggeranong community to try.

In addition to Mookie’s signature over-the-top frozen custard desserts, the Tuggeranong store will boast its very own individual frozen custard window, with new flavours of Italian gelato including Ferrero Rocher and Strawberries & Cream, coming in February.

The new digs will also boast Mookie’s signature neon lights, floor-to-ceiling mirror features, and an all-new LA-style pink feature wall.

The work of Hot Black Studio in Melbourne, the design pays tribute to Mookie’s Japanese influence, including tatami matting, rice paper wallpaper and a suspended Japanese lighting feature.

Mookie’s new venue will also have huge indoor and outdoor seating set-ups, outdoor heating and moveable bi-folds—both to maximise its family-friendliness and Canberra’s hot summers and cool winters.

“We want to bring an all-new dining experience to the Tuggeranong community”, says Mookie owner, Jaye.

“Our city store is all about the fast-casual vibes, whereas the new location gives our customers more space to kick back and relax for a sit-down dining experience.”
