MAJI offers an authentic taste of Japan—and it’s opening today!

Get excited foodies: a new authentic Japanese restaurant is opening its doors today in Campbell and it promises traditional favourites along with seasonal specialties. This is MAJI.

MAJI Japanese Cuisine is a culmination of pure dedication to the craftsmanship of Japanese cuisine. According to Crystal Leung and her husband (who is also head chef), they have wanted to open a restaurant for years with a menu that features traditional Japanese favourites and seasonal specialties prepared with fresh and quality ingredients.

“The flavors, colour pairing, textures, temperatures, and the pure dedication put carefully into every single dish is in pursuit of perfection. Food is seemingly simple, but the simplicity is complex, which is why many find Japanese cuisine so fascinating,” Crystal explains.

“In Japanese cuisine, there are people called shokunin, which literally translates to ‘craftsman’. The craftsmanship put into the plate is not just about making it looks perfect, but every single aspect in-between.”

In appetisers alone, the menu features delicious options like Kani Korokke (creamy crab croquettes with mayonnaise), Nama Kaki sashimi (fresh oysters with wakame and yuzu dressing), salmon cream cheese sushi rolls (with cucumber, egg, and avocado), Chicken Katsu and more.

For a more filling meal, you can choose from mains like Miso Itame Buta (stir-fried sliced pork belly with misco sauce), Hamaguri Sake-Ni (clams cooked with sake) and the crispy deep-fried ramen.

For $13 and under you can treat yourself to the dessert menu which includes Black Sesame Japanese ice cream, Sakura gelato and Green Tea mousse with berries.

And don’t forget the drinks: beers, wines, saké served hot or cold, a Leapin Lychee cocktail with vodka, lychee liqueur, watermelon liqueur and lemon and a Yuzu Chuhai cocktail featuring Imo Shochu, yuzu, soda and lemon.
