Cbrmamas has launched a new directory for Canberra parents

Posted on

It’s been a year since we caught up with the team behind Cbrmamas—a flourishing online community of local parents.

In May last year, Cbrmamas had published over 100 Canberra mothers’ stories across their website and Instagram, aiming to bring better connectivity to the Canberra parent community. Now, they’ve launched a directory aimed at making new mums’ lives easier.

“The last year for Cbrmamas was big!” says Cbrmamas’ Yasmin Johnson (pictured above, center). “Since our birthday event in May, we have been focused on the content side of our platform by bringing the birth stories of Canberran mums to life, continuing our weekly Instagram takeovers, mama chats, blogs, and competitions like our Mum of the Month and 12 Days of Christmas giveaway with some really awesome local businesses.”

“Aside from our regular content and engagement with our growing platform, we are so excited to have launched our new online directory for parents in Canberra and surrounding regions as their go-to place to find any service, business or organisations related to motherhood. This covers everything from pregnancy, birth and postpartum all the way through to birthday party services and activities around town to keep the kids entertained.”

Yasmin explains that the directory is the tool the team wishes they had when they first started their journey into motherhood.

“The beginning (and every stage after) can feel very overwhelming and like you’ve stepped into a whole new world, so you don’t always know where to start when looking for a service or support,” she says. “We are also in a unique position with the Cbrmamas platform that we get to know and work with so many Canberra-based businesses and also have a growing community on our social media platforms. So creating a directory where we could have a one-stop-shop with all the businesses and organisations for our followers was something we were passionate about pursuing.”

“If this helps just one mum make her journey a little easier, then we’ve achieved what we set out to do with this. But we are working hard to continue to grow the listings on there and make it a tool that families use for years to come.”

The directory, available at cbrmamas.com/mama-directory, features categories like breastfeeding, food services, maternity, photography and sleep support but also businesses and services to help people navigate miscarriage and pregnancy loss.

Cbrmamas’ Lauren Brunskill (pictured above, right) says she hopes the directory can a useful tool for guiding those who may feel isolated or overwhelmed.

“We have designed this directory to be a one-stop-shop for all things parenthood. The businesses listed cover everything from pregnancy to birth, postpartum and beyond. There are so many things to think about at all stages of the parenthood journey so we hope our directory eventually becomes the first place people go when they are looking for something, rather than trying to Google and sift through pages of information.”

“Some of the businesses currently listed to give people an idea of what they can find on their include The National Museum of Australia, The Pink Elephants Support Network, Karinya House for Mothers and Babies, Plush Play and so many more.”

As for what else we can expect from the website in 2023, Cbrmamas’ Kristy Kelland (pictured above, left) says followers can get excited for a growing directory and more events.

“While we will continue to work with businesses and organisations around Canberra to grow our directory, we definitely have plans in the works for more events with our community so that we can connect, network and get some of our mamas out for a well-deserved night out this year!”

Businesses that would like to be listed in the Cbrmamas directory can find out more about packages at cbrmamas.com/mama-directory-subscription-shop.
