This weekend’s Camp Quality’s Classic Cruise will raise money for kids impacted by cancer: Here’s where to see it and how to donate

This weekend, Canberrans will witness a sleek parade of chrome cruise through the Inner South as car and motorbike enthusiasts get behind the wheel for a great cause.

Kicking off at 8.30 am this Sunday 10 September, the annual Camp Quality Classic Cruise will be raising money for the most moving of causes—kids impacted by cancer.

Starting out from the National Arboretum Canberra at 10 am, the cruise will see a parade of classic, luxury, exotic and company-branded cars as well as members of car clubs joined by motorbikes to cruise down to the Questacon carpark for a Show and Shine by the lake, with all participants raising funds for Camp Quality.

One such motoring enthusiast is Sam Webster (full disclosure, one of our beloved colleagues at HC parent company Supercurious) who will be driving his Holden GTS (pictured above) for the Cruise this weekend for the seventh year in a row.

Over the last seven years Sam’s proud to say he’s scooped plenty of ‘top fundraiser’ gongs with $4800 raised in 2022 and $11,500 in total. He hopes this year will be no different.

“Cancer is an incredibly cruel disease and doesn’t discriminate,” he says. “I’ve seen first-hand the suffering it inflicts and the devastation it causes, so if this is some small way I can help the cause, I’ll do it every time.”

“Camp Quality is such a great organisation and I’m proud of the event the Cruise has become over the years. Whether you’re interested in cars or motorbikes, there’s an amazing atmosphere to the cruise and anyone is welcome to come and see the Show and Shine at Questacon.”

Camp Quality estimates that over 600 children will be newly diagnosed with cancer in Australia in the coming year with a further 10,000 living at some stage of their cancer experience. Camp Quality supports them, as well as children whose family has been affected by a cancer diagnosis, in their journey by offering a range of in-hospital, in-home and in-school programs, as well as recreation programs.
