Four new places to get ice cream in Canberra
Posted on
Long, hot days call for icy-cold treats, and there’s never been a better time to explore Canberra’s coolest new additions.
But these aren’t your traditional vanilla cones.
From gelato inspired by the Mediterranean to silky swirls of Hokkaidō milk soft serve, here’s the scoop on three new places to get ice cream in Canberra.
Gianni’s Italian (Belconnen)

Pop in to Gianni’s Italian in Belconnen to visit the in-house gelato bar. Serving locally churned small-batch traditional Italian gelato seven days a week, it is not only available for diners but is also open for takeaway via a street-facing entrance – meaning you can drop in to get a scoop from Gianni himself.
Made with real fruit and by a local pastry chef from Romano’s in Queanbeyan, it’s a true Italian gelato experience.

Made with Tilba Real Dairy Full Cream Jersey Milk, it’s hard not to understand the hype around vibrant gelato bar Mavi Gelati. Offering 14 flavours of gelato and six sorbets, everything is made in-house with fresh, high-quality ingredients. But trust us when we say you have to try their specialty flavours: Baklava, Mastika and Olive Oil & Sea Salt.

Ujin Matcha House (City)

Hokkaidō Milk and Ujihisui Matcha soft serve is the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day, especially when served alongside a hand-whisked matcha from Ujin Matcha House. With a rich, creamy texture, this slow-churned ice cream is a delight for the senses and perfectly balances the umami taste of the green tea. Take your order up a level with a Matcha Affogato or Matcha Float and thank us later.
