Seeing marble in a whole new light: Vero Galleria’s impressive gallery of full-sized slabs
Posted on
If you’re a Canberran, chances are you’ve already admired the natural Italian marble and stone supplied by Vero Galleria, perhaps beneath your feet at the Canberra Centre or while browsing skincare at the newly revamped Mecca Cosmetica.
Since 2020, the local business has supplied premium natural stone to major commercial projects across Australia. Yet despite its impressive portfolio, Vero Galleria’s expansive Queanbeyan showroom remains just as welcoming to homeowners planning a renovation as it is to the architects and designers who visit daily.
In fact, Vero Galleria is the only showroom in the region displaying full-sized marble and stone slabs. Director Chanelle Tagliapietra and Business Manager Chris Reynolds say there is a world of difference between holding a small sample tile against a wall and standing in front of metres of beautifully veined natural stone. Every slab is completely unique and when investing in natural stone, they believe customers should see exactly what they are choosing.

Chanelle, Chris and stone specialist Stephanie Jimenez particularly enjoy watching first-time visitors experience the showroom. Customers slowly wander the aisles, often forming an unexpected connection with a specific piece of stone they’ll live with and use every day. Others find the selection delightfully overwhelming, returning multiple times to compare options before finally making their decision.
“We’re used to people spending hours in here,” says Chris. “We encourage it, and we always suggest visiting at different times of the day so you can see how the light interacts with the stone.”
And if choosing between more than 70 full-sized slabs becomes a little exhausting, the showroom also features a lounge area complete with coffee and refreshments to help visitors settle in and enjoy the experience.
It’s difficult to walk past the towering, artfully displayed slabs without appreciating the extraordinary beauty of stone shaped over hundreds of millions of years before being expertly quarried and polished.

Natural stone is so much more than a surface; it’s a feature in its own right. In some cases, the stone becomes art itself, with Chanelle and Chris noting that clients have even installed slabs as statement wall pieces in their homes.
Walking past Breccia Rosa Marble or Calcutta Rosa Marble, both known for their distinctive pink tones, or dramatic pieces such as Da Vinci Emerald Quartzite and Noir Grand Antique Marble can even inspire visitors to completely rethink their original design plans.
“We believe the stone used in a kitchen, bathroom or throughout a home really sets the tone for every other finish, whether that’s flooring, cabinetry or soft furnishings,” says Chanelle.
The moral of the story? It’s probably wise to visit Vero Galleria early in the design process.
The team also recommends that, even when working with an interior designer, clients experience the stone firsthand before making a final decision.
“You should see it for yourself, the veining, the colours and all the unique characteristics of the stone before it’s installed,” says Chris.
Chanelle and Chris say many designers bring clients into the showroom early in the process so materials, colours and finishes can evolve naturally around the chosen stone.

“When you come downstairs every morning to sit at your bench and have your coffee, your day feels so much better when you genuinely love the space you’re in,” says Chris.
While marble and natural stone are often associated with luxury, the team at Vero Galleria are passionate about helping clients find solutions to suit a wide range of styles, homes and budgets. Alongside premium natural marble, the showroom offers an extensive selection of porcelain stone, granite, dolomite, limestone, onyx, quartzite, travertine and Santa Margherita engineered marble, ensuring there are beautiful options available whether clients are creating a high-end architectural home or working within a more modest renovation budget.
The team also provides expert advice on stone care, maintenance and everyday wear and tear, alongside a curated range of Fila products from Italy designed to help clean and protect benchtops.
“Everyone always asks about red wine,” says Chanelle. “But if you spill a glass of red wine on anything, you can’t expect to leave it sitting there without staining. Like any natural material, as long as you clean and maintain it using the right products, you shouldn’t be scared of marble. It’s been used and loved in homes for generations.”
Chanelle also appreciates the natural patina marble develops over time, seeing it as part of the beauty of living with natural stone, subtle signs of shared meals, morning coffees and everyday moments that quietly become part of a home’s story.

Whether you’re planning a renovation or simply want to admire the beauty of natural stone formed over hundreds of millions of years, Vero Galleria welcomes visitors to explore the showroom.
And there’s no better time than Saturday 13 June, when Vero Galleria will host an intimate in-conversation event with Darren Palmer, one of Australia’s most respected interior designers. During the event, Darren will share insights into his approach to interiors, materiality and creating thoughtful, beautifully resolved spaces. Guests will hear his perspective on emerging design trends, the role of stone in contemporary interiors and the decisions that shape timeless design, while exploring Vero Galleria’s curated collection of natural and engineered stone up close. Reservations for the complimentary event are now open here.
