This year, Floriade is serving up its most delicious theme yet

Posted on

Inspired by harvests, shared tables and the joy of gathering, Floriade’s 2026 theme, Feast of Flowers, will transform Commonwealth Park into a month-long celebration of blooms, food, music and culture. Plus, NightFest tickets are now on sale.

What do overflowing produce bowls, backyard barbecues, picnic rugs and flower beds have in common? They’re all part of the inspiration behind Floriade’s 2026 theme, Feast of Flowers.

Returning to Commonwealth Park from Saturday 12 September until Sunday 11 October, Floriade will once again welcome visitors to wander through more than one million blooms, but this year’s festival promises a fresh take on the much-loved spring tradition.

Drawing on the colours, textures and rituals of seasonal harvests, the gardens will celebrate not just what’s growing in the ground, but the moments that happen around the table.

Expect floral displays inspired by shared platters, edible landscapes, foraged discoveries and iconic Australian food moments. Beyond the blooms, visitors can wander through immersive garden experiences where the scent of flowers meets the aroma of food, with opportunities to taste, discover, and connect.

From garden-to-plate moments to family-friendly activities, the program brings the spirit of feasting to life. Visitors can dig into food and wine workshops, live music, cultural performances, market stalls, interactive experiences and family-friendly activities, making it just as easy to spend a full day exploring as it is to drop in for a stroll among the flowers.

And while the blooms will undoubtedly steal plenty of attention, there’ll be no shortage of reasons to return throughout the festival. Dogs’ Day Out is back on the final day of Floriade, while the much-loved Great Big Bulb Dig returns once the gates close, giving green thumbs the chance to take home a piece of the festival while supporting YWCA through this year’s charity partnership.

The celebration will also spill beyond Commonwealth Park, with Floriade About Town inviting local cafés, restaurants, bars, retailers, hotels and attractions to join in with themed experiences and special offers across the city.

Floriade Community will once again see Canberra burst into colour throughout spring, thanks to Icon Water. The program provides three hundred thousand bulbs and annuals to community groups across Canberra to plant and maintain in their local areas, fostering community pride, connection and creativity across the region.

Lanyon Homestead will once again host its own satellite program among its beautiful blooming historic gardens. Head to their website to see what’s happening!

NightFest returns after dark

As the sun sets, Floriade takes on a different flavour.

Returning from Thursday 1 until Sunday 4 October, NightFest will once again transform Commonwealth Park with illuminated flower beds, spectacular light installations, fire performances, roaming entertainers, market stalls and plenty of food and drink to enjoy beneath the stars.

This year’s headline music lineup features The Temper Trap, Tim Finn, Pacific Avenue, Busby Marou and Christine Anu, joined by some of Canberra’s best local musicians across the four-night program.

Whether you’re planning a date night, gathering a group of friends or making it a family outing, NightFest offers a completely different way to experience Floriade, with tickets on sale now.
