Pack it up and store it away, DPS Snap ‘n’ Store is here to stay

It’s inevitable. You’ve got stuff in storage and need to haul something out. And what you need is at the very back, hidden away behind mounds of ‘stuff’. So you have to move everything out and then move it all back again. Grrr…frustrating, huh?

For those with a home, it’s a hassle, not to mention a waste of precious time. For business it’s a waste of non-billable time.

A new Canberra enterprise has turned storage inside out to make life a whole lot easier. Operated by look-alike brothers Dave and Pete Shaw, DPS Snap‘n’Store offers a free app that puts managing your storage in the palm of your hand.

The app — the first of its kind in Australia, and designed and developed here in Canberra — is simple to use.

You just download the app from iTunes App Store. Create your account and password. Choose the size of storage space you need. Arrange for pickup or delivery using your online photo catalogue of items. Select a preferred time and date. Click send.

Dave and Pete guarantee delivery within 24 hours. They also relocate items into your storage unit at no cost and provide two free pickups or deliveries of standard-sized items a month, to a local address. Each time something is delivered or picked up, they update your catalogue.

The Shaw brothers have operated DPS Couriers in Canberra since 1990 and are familiar faces to many in the capital. Through their courier business, Dave and Pete have managed hundreds of thousands of items for domestic customers and public and private sector businesses. They’re logistics experts through and through.

“I don’t know how many times we’ve had to climb over mountains of dusty boxes and furniture, or shuffle items around so we can access something important for a customer, and inevitably it’s needed urgently,” says Dave.

“Then the light bulb went on — an easier and more modern way to manage storage and delivery. The app with a photo catalogue of stored items was born.”

Each storage unit is private and secure. Snap‘n’Store operates from a centrally located, purpose-built facility in Fyshwick.

“The idea of the photo catalogue means customers never forget what they have in storage,” says Pete. “It’s all about saving customers time, money and effort.”
