Things get hairy at Hustle&Scout and The Forage

They’ve burst out of New Acton Precinct and really ‘taken off’ in their new digs at Hangar #47 Fairbairn. Now things are getting hairy at local food and fashion collaboration, Hustle&Scout and The Forage, as they prepare to present a Movember charity drive at their final market event for the year on Saturday, 22 November.

To raise awareness and money for men’s health, the twilight market will take gold coin donations upon entry and present a pop-up barber shop for men, with all proceeds going directly to Movember – the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men’s health. Local barbershop Barbero Canberra will close their Bailey’s Arcade doors on 22 November, instead popping-up exclusively from 3pm to 8pm at Fairbairn to groom the men of Canberra.

Blokes can book at the event to get a haircut, traditional barbershave, beard and mo trims, and mo styling. Men’s facial hair products will be available for purchase, and the market’s Style Scouters will also be roaming the event to take official portraits of stylish ‘Mo-Bros’.

This will be the first pop-up appearance for Barbero owner and barber, Karan Khanna. Karan opened his inner city shopfront only six months ago to fulfil a life-long dream of owning his own barber shop. The son of a hairdresser, Karan grew up in the salon environment, and moved from India to Australia in 2007 to study hairdressing in hope of starting his own business. It’s something that he’s truly passionate about, “I run short of words to explain how much joy get from lining up someone’s hair”, he says.

Karan will bring his signature motorbike (which usually sits in his shop window) to the market, and will set-up shop next to debut stallholder and Barbero client, Braddon Tailors.

“Style to me is tweed suits, old motorbikes, colognes and combed hairI love thatI can bring an element of this to the market whilst raising money for a great cause”. Karan is also currently preparing to enter the 2015 Australian Hair Industry Awards for the first time for ‘Best New Barbershop of the Year’ and ‘Best Salon Design for theYear’.
