Who is Nerdalina Ballerina?

It was three o’clock in the morning and only one window in the whole building was uncovered and allowing light in.

A young girl was sitting in a room, sewing two pieces of material, adorned with a myriad sparkling dots. Despite it being such a late hour she was excited and full of energy. Her cat was playing with a bright ribbon around her feet, embodying the happy mood and making the girl laugh. From time to time she adjusted the headphones she wore and changed the music. She was very close to finishing her work, which had transcended from a dream to a sketch and from a sketch to a costume. This sleepless night, one of many will make her dreams become reality again…

Her desire to step into an unreal magic world and experience a different reality had led her to search for the means to make it happen. This is how the Nerdalina Ballerina was born…

In the daytime her name is Angela, she is young, beautiful and very talented. For many years she has loved reading comic book stories and imagined herself being a part of them. The idea of bringing a favourite character to life and into the real world even for a moment had led her to discover in herself great skills in costume design and to explore cosplay.

Cosplay had originated in Japan in the early 90s, where comic book and anime readers created an environment to support their fantasies of becoming their favourite characters. That’s why they had adopted the idea of “costume and play,” or in short – cosplay. It quickly became phenomenally popular amongst young people and rapidly expanded to Western countries.

Cosplay has been developing huge popularity in Australia, and furthermore, maintains a special niche in all social networks by uniting young people who have become devoted to this type of performance art. It has become a massive entertainment industry in itself, where people can express themselves by attending special events and festivals and even win prizes for their creativity.

Angela is a gifted designer. She has a very unique mindset and a wonderful imagination – two perfect tools for creativity. She uses materials you would never imagine as details of costumes and accessories – it was her idea to take about three hundred plastic spoons, paint them in different colours and use these as lizard skin for the prototype of a costume. The first time she attended the Comic Con Festival she made a huge impression. She made many new friends at the festival, and since then participation in cosplay festivals has become her new agenda and focus for entertainment.

I believe this girl has a bright future in cosplay and with her talents could evolve into a famous entertainer as she pursues her dreams and turns them into reality, in the most beautiful way imaginable.
