At HerCanberra, we know how tough it can be to get out there and try something new. Introducing HerCanberra’s Get ACTIVE—an entire year of free fitness activities.

It’s a new year, and there’s never been a better time to shake up your routine and get active! We’re making it easy with HerCanberra’s Get ACTIVE—an entire year of free fitness activities made possible with the support of the ACT Government’s Participation Innovation Fund.

So, what’s in store for January? We’re glad you asked! All you need to do is decide what activity (or activities) you’d like to try, book in, and show up with a great attitude

WEEK 1

Week commencing 6 January 2020

SALTI FLOATING FITNESS/YOGA

Salti Floating Fitness/Yoga Class is a total body workout, firing the core while giving participants a physical and mental challenge.

So, what can you expect? Yoga, HIIT & Strength workouts on a floating blow-up board! Fun and fitness for all ages.

This class is limited to 10 participants so be quick.

When: Friday 10 January
Time: 10am – 10.30am

WEEK 2

DRAGON BOAT ACT (DBACT)

Have you wondered what it is like to be in a boat with 20 inboard motors? Well, wonder no more as the Dragon Boat ACT (DBACT) invite you to Enter the Dragon!

Dragon boating is a fun sport for people from 12-years-old—and there is no upper age limit and it is accessible and enjoyable for people of all fitness levels. If you are looking to immerse yourself into a culture of community, commitment and determination—or just want to get fit in a fun environment—DBACT welcomes you to give it a go!

All equipment (paddle, life jacket and boat) is provided, and all Sweeps (steerer) are trained and qualified.

Make sure you bring water to drink, wear covered shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, and wear sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses.

When: Sunday 19 January
Time: 9 am–12 pm
Where: Mariner Place, Yarralumla (follow the signs). Google Maps.

AERIAL POLE ACADEMY

 

Ever wanted to try pole dancing? Well now is the time to give it a go!

Aerial Pole Academy run fun classes for all levels and is offering a free session in their Belconnen studio.

All of their classes are led by exceptional instructors whose passion is reflected in their ability to inspire students.

This class is a pole class and is limited to 17 participants so be sure to register well in advance!

When: Saturday 25 January
Time: 12pm – 1pm

KOREAN MARTIAL ARTS ACADEMY

If you’re looking for a family-friendly environment offering a variety of fun, energetic classes then Korean Martial Arts Academy (KMAA) is for you!

KMAA provides taekwondo classes for all ages, experience and fitness levels.

Their experienced team of instructors focus on delivering energetic classes that offer a range of different martial arts techniques to suit every student’s needs.

When: Tuesday 28 January
Time: 7.15pm – 8.15pm
