In these difficult times, it’s never been more important to stay active—both for your physical…
Got big goals to step up your health and fitness game in 2020?
Where better to help with your shiny big goals than a shiny new gym?
And actually, why wait until January? Opening in early December, Canberra Southern Cross Health Club is converting a whole level to a schmick new women’s gym.
In case you missed it, Canberra Southern Cross Health Club in Phillip moved up the road from its old spot to the modern, multi-storey Stellar Canberra in 2018.
The facility boasts an Anytime Fitness gym, an indoor heated hydrotherapy pool, one whole level dedicated to group fitness, outdoor training areas, plus a small women’s-only gym, and oodles of free parking.
The building is something of a one-stop-shop for all things health and fitness with a range of allied health professionals on-site including nutritionists and dietitians at Healthy Eating Hub, FloatAbove flotation therapy, plus physiotherapists and exercise Physiologists at Capital Rehabilitation Professionals and Active Recovery. And taking over the whole top-level soon will be the brand new women’s gym.
More than four times the size of its predecessor and filled with natural light, the 24/7 gym will offer even more cardio equipment and pin-loaded weights machines, free weights, plus a dedicated functional fitness zone.
The cardio machines in particular will make the most of the top-floor position, facing out towards the leafy surrounds with uninterrupted views all the way to the Arboretum. Talk about a jog with a view.
After your workout, you can cool down and stretch in the relaxing green room, get changed and freshen up at the beauty bar, or chill out and catch up with others in the social lounge which has cosy bench seats, coffee and fresh fruit.
“The women’s gym is somewhere where you can feel comfortable to be yourself,” says Bec Eyers, Southern Cross Health Club group exercise manager.
“I personally feel this is such a welcoming, encouraging and accepting club, no matter if you are starting out on your fitness journey or a long-time gym user, we really offer something for everyone.”
And memberships to the women’s gym also include access to many of the other benefits of the Stellar Canberra precinct.
“For those who like to add a mix to their training, our group exercise timetable includes over 100 classes, which is Canberra’s largest range of freestyle, instructor-led classes,” says Bec.
“Led by our friendly and experienced team, the classes perfectly complement the new women’s gym with classes for all ages and fitness levels.”
Need a little extra motivation to get yourself to the gym? Stellar Canberra even boasts its very own cafe on the ground floor, serving delicious Lonsdale Street Roasters coffee plus sandwiches and wraps, fruit salads, grab and go snacks, plus some sweet treats.
Already a female member of Southern Cross Health Club? Lucky you! Your membership will allow you to access the new space as soon as it’s open for no extra cost.
