This one-day-only gym sale could help you get moving (Anytime)

There’s no doubt about it‚ the mornings are getting colder and staying darker for longer, making it just that little bit harder to drag yourself out of bed.
And with less daylight hours left after work, it’s tempting to head straight home to the embrace of the couch. So it’s no wonder that Canberra winters can wreak havoc on your exercise routine.
But the good news is, there’s still just enough time to form some good habits which could carry you through those dreaded sub-zero mornings. If you manage to consistently get yourself out of bed at 6 am now for workouts, it’s going to be an awful lot easier to do it in a few months’ time, even if it means scraping the ice off the windscreen.
And there’s one gym that not only really wants you to get moving now, they’re offering a huge discount to help you do it.
Anytime Fitness is holding a one-day-only, nation-wide sale on Wednesday 19 February, where new members can save more than $250 when they sign up.
Not only will you not have to pay a joining fee, you’ll also get a merchandise pack to get you started, which is already saving you over $100. But the real clincher is you’ll also get three free personal training sessions.
Alex Zeitlhofer, from Anytime Fitness ACT, says these sessions are a great way to start out if you’ve never set foot in a gym before, or if it’s been a while. Or—if you’re a seasoned gym-goer—consider them three serious sweat sessions when your trainer can push you further than you would’ve been able to go yourself.
“In those sessions, the trainer will go through the reasons you’re joining the club, whether that’s weight loss, building strength, rehabilitation, mental health or any other reason, so they can then best guide you and make sure you’re on the right path so you can achieve your goals,” says Alex.
“They’ll also make sure you know how to use equipment safely and make sure your technique is right, so that you don’t injure yourself. And the great thing is, we’ve found that if you come to the gym just four times in your first months, you’re 60% more likely to come back and train the next month. So those free sessions almost get you there.”
And once your three free personal training sessions are over, you’re far from training alone. Anytime Fitness has a dedicated app, which is free for all members, where you can not only track your own progress, but also get inspiration for workouts and professional support.
“The app has over 1,100 workouts in it, plus customisable programs, and members have the ability to message one of our personal trainers 24 hours a day through that app, so you get that remote personal training experience,” says Alex.
There are 16 Anytime Fitness clubs in the ACT, spread across the whole territory, and each one is locally owned and run. It’s also the largest gym franchise in the world with more than 500 gyms nationally and 4,500 gyms globally, and as a member, your gym tag will get you into every single one of them.
“So you’re not just signing up to one gym. You’re signing up to 4,500 gyms,” says Alex.
“I was just overseas and I trained in Switzerland and Singapore with my one tag. There’s that flexibility and freedom with Anytime Fitness.”
Anytime Fitness gyms are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and have the most up-to-date equipment for all fitness levels and any workout goal. Some of the gyms also have free group fitness classes.
“Not only is your local Anytime Fitness a convenient place to train, I think people would be surprised how friendly and supportive the gyms are,” says Alex.
“We’re really dedicated to making healthy happen, and want to make the world a healthier place. So that’s not about making everybody the biggest lifter, it’s about getting people training for both a long time and a good time.”
The one day sale is only available on Wednesday 19 February. You can sign up in-person at your nearest gym, or online any time between midnight and midnight. Some gyms will even be celebrating the sale with breakfasts, barbecues, fitness activities, free classes and other events.
