Loves scavenger hunts? Like cycling? Do we have the event for you.
This weekend will see the launch of the Connected Community Scavenger Hunt. Created by Northside Community Service in partnership with Cyclabilities, the scavenger hunt will celebrate World Bicycle Day—and provide some much-needed stimulation after three months of lockdown.
Taking place from 19-28 June over 10 days, entry to the Scavenger Hunt is free and open to everyone, with participation via a series of daily challenges.
Participants are encouraged to snap daily photos and videos of themselves attempting the challenges, with the aim of “boosting social connection and physical activity”.
Each day, a task will be posted on the Facebook event, with a new challenge. All entrants will have the opportunity to win Healthy Active Family Fitness Packs, as well as the main prize to be drawn at the end of June.
The challenges will be suitable for all ages and include walking, cycling, scooting and road safety tasks.
The Scavenger Hunt is the perfect way to bring together two Canberra not-for-profits that focus on physical activity.
A nation-wide initiative, Cyclabilities aim to bring social inclusion and practical skill development to sporting and social activities for those living with a disability while Canberra’s Northside Community Service’s CHANGE program aims to support and facilitate marginalised or at-risk members of the community to access, engage in and lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
