Five things we’d like people to know about Canberra during the federal election campaign

In the late 2000s, the author of Describing Things in Canberra was just a recently arrived Queenslander.
She came to Canberra to join the federal public service and fell in love with the city because of its great natural beauty, heritage, and lack of humidity. The love was strengthened by the community of welcoming Canberrans and their enthusiasm for art, culture, good food and making their own fun (although not so much the 3am burnouts by car enthusiast-Canberrans).
She started the ‘Describing Things in Canberra’ facebook page in 2015, because all she ever did was describe things in Canberra and her family were tired of it.
She is no longer a public servant so she can be as partial as she likes. She is partial to coffee, cake, cats (and dogs) and wandering about looking at things.
