A very foodie Floriade

Heading to Floriade? There are so many options when it comes to food and drinks that you may have to plan multiple trips!

From an elegant breakfast after a wander around the flowerbeds, to a locally-crafted cocktail amongst the sights and sounds of NightFest, Floriade 2019 really is a foodie’s paradise! Here’s what you’ll want to get in your belly.

Pialligo on a plate

Pialligo Estate is back at Floriade for the second year, so you can fill up on their delicious paddock-to-plate offerings without visiting their sprawling Pialligo HQ.

The Pialligo Urban Café in the Main Vista Precinct will be serving up a breakfast menu, lunch mains, sandwiches, snacks, salads and more – all for affordable prices. You’ll catch us there in the morning, scoffing egg and award-winning bacon burgers, or maybe scones. Scones!

Underground Spirits will be popping up at Stage 88 with their Ginternational Bar and introducing their Underground Spirits x Floriade limited edition special gin, Lakeside Gin.

Take your pick from their range of gins and vodkas, along with their own twist on popular cocktails from around the world.

Oh, and if you love the Lakeside Gin, you’ll have to snap up a bottle before Floriade ends in October—it’s available for purchase onsite at Shop CBR or you can wander across and pick up a bottle from the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre.

All the food trucks!

Pick up lunch, dinner or a snack from one of the many food trucks located near Stage 88.

Grab a momo from Taste of Tibet, a burger from Soul Cartel or Grease Monkey, a gyros or maybe a Greek salad from Sacred Seed, potato on a stick from Slinky Spuds, or one of Tikka Stand’s range of chicken tikka meals.

Want more savoury options? You’ll find fish & chips, pizza, Thai food, gozleme and so much more, including Wildflour’s pies and sausage rolls (plus sweet pastries) and ONA coffee!

Those with a sweet tooth will delight in De Wafel’s freshly baked Belgium waffles, Clayridge Honey’s delicious warm honey donuts, fairy floss, popcorn, poffertjes, fresh juice or—to cool down— Streets Ice Cream or Gelato Messina.

For the wine lovers

Love a glass or two of local wine? You’re in luck. You can enjoy a tipple of local cool-climate winery Contentious Character’s drops at their pop up wine bar and also pick up a bottle to take home from their stall onsite.

Pull up a patch of grass, grab a glass of Riesling or Pinot Gris, and drink in the atmosphere. There are few better ways to spend a sunny spring afternoon. If you try something you like, make sure you pop past their market stall in the Main Vista Village to grab a bottle or two to take home.

Did someone say beer?

It’s thirsty work exploring all those flowerbeds. Luckily, Capital Brewing Co’s outdoor beer garden at Stage 88 has you sorted with their range of locally-produced beers.

Might we suggest a Trail Pale Ale? Inspired by “days hiking trails around the capital”, we reckon this fresh and juicy pale ale is the perfect fit for a Floriade session.

Floriade 2019 runs until Dogs’ Day Out on Sunday 13 October 2019. Discover what’s on at floriadeaustralia.com.
