Calling all book and film lovers, the NFSA Book Club is back!

Posted on

Whether you’re a romance lover, thriller fanatic, or diehard for Shakespeare, the National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) and Canberra Writers Festival have you covered.

Returning for its second year, the NFSA and Canberra Writers Festival have once again partnered to offer a program of screenings, exploring how culturally significant books have been adapted and reborn as films.

Covering classics from Hitchcock’s thriller, Strangers on a Train, to the powerful The Color Purple and the adventurous Jurassic Park, there is something for everyone – both book and film lovers alike.

But it’s not a book club without a post-discussion, right? Don’t worry, they have that covered.

“Our line-up this year of films and new guests is just wonderful” says Artistic Director of the Canberra Writers Festival, Beejay Silcox.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing this event series back for another year, to explore the magic of screen adaptation. It’s a chance to dive into the stories we love, compare page to screen, and celebrate the shapeshifting art of storytelling.”

Following each session, you’ll have the opportunity to share views and thoughts with special guests such as the author and critic Chris Flynn, bestselling author and lawyer, Alice Pung OAM, and novelist and critic James Bradley OAM.

So, if you’re a book or film lover, make sure to mark the following dates down in your calendar, because you won’t want to miss a single session.

Here’s the show-stopping schedule:
