Candlelight is coming to light up Canberra

Posted on

An intimate venue bathed in candlelight, a talented string ensemble and more: get excited Canberra, Candlelight is going to light up the city.

Entertaining music lovers all over the world, Candlelight concerts pay tribute to history’s most renowned composers and musicians in stunning venues that are bathed in (you guessed it) candlelight.

After taking over Sydney and inviting thousands to relieve some of history’s greatest compositions at some of the city’s most magical locations, the glow of Candlelight is now coming to Canberra for a special edition concert.

Taking place on Thursday 20 January 2022 with two back-to-back hour-long stirring renditions of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons as performed by string ensemble Phoenix Collective, it’s the first time the one-of-a-kind sensory experience has come to Canberra.

And guess what? The venue is amazing.

Taking place in the recently refurbished James Fairfax Theatre at the National Gallery of Australia, the iconic venue will be illuminated by the soft glow of the flameless candles, making it the perfect location to experience music in a new light.

With a quality acoustic design, high-end tiered theatre seating and stunning architecture, there’s no better way to enjoy Four Seasons, one of the most famous classical music works from the Baroque period, and also one of Vivaldi’s most recognisable pieces.

But don’t worry if you don’t know Vivaldi from Vance Joy, all you need to do is sit back, enjoy the ambience and let the music wash over you
