At this year’s She Leads Conference, bring on the disrupters

Posted on

This year’s She Leads Conference, happening on Friday 4 August, is all about the disrupters—those women and non-binary leaders who have fought for change to the status quo at work, at home and in their communities in pursuit of gender equality and values-based leadership.

YWCA Canberra’s annual She Leads Conference is a chance for women and non-binary people to connect, be inspired and learn. So, what can you look forward to?

This year’s emcee is comedian Chris Ryan who appeared at last year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival and keynote speakers will include Angela Fredericks who was responsible for the hugely successful ‘Home to Bilo’ campaign, and if you’re concerned about artificial intelligence, there’s internationally recognised Distinguished Professor Fang Chen from Melbourne.

Professor Renee Leon will be sharing her journey from being the Secretary of the Department of Human Services to current Chancellor of Charles Sturt University. Latoya Aroha Rule, an Aboriginal and Maori, Takatapui (Queer) Research Associate & PhD Candidate, who was selected as one of five racial justice ‘Guardians of the Year’ for TIME Magazine, and a finalist for the Australian Human Rights Medal for their work on anti-torture and legislative reforms will also share their story.

To provide you with a personalised conference journey and a diverse range of perspectives, YWCA is thrilled to present three distinct panel sessions on the day. These sessions will enable you to select your preferred area of interest and hear from a rich line-up of inspiring speakers who are championing positive disruption in their respective fields.
