Why every hart makes a difference at Hartley Lifecare

Posted on

Hartley Lifecare is looking to raise one million dollars in its upcoming One Million Harts campaign. Here’s how you can help people with disabilities live their best life.

Hartley Lifecare, dedicated to independent living, short-term respite care and transportation for Canberrans living with a disability, is on a mission to provide life-changing services for our community—and they have big plans for 2021.

Today, Thursday 18 March, Hartley’s One Million Harts campaign will be launched, with the aim of raising funds to support the upgrades to the organisation’s Hartley Court residence in Hughes.

Over the course of the next 12 months, there will plenty of fundraising events for you, your family and friends to get involved in to show your support, donate to a worthy cause and meet those in the Hartley community that are making a difference.

There will also be a dedicated website for individuals and businesses to donate and become a part of the Hartley family.

Eric Thauvette, CEO of Hartley Lifecare says that the campaign’s impact will be felt not just at Hartley Court but across Canberra.

“Hartley Lifecare’s One Million Harts Campaign for 2021/2022 is a meaningful way for the community to band together to support an amazing cause and organisation. The positive impacts of campaigns like this are not only felt by the organisation and the people we support, but also the Canberra Community on a wider scale.”

The redevelopment project will involve Hartley Court having a little makeover, which is currently home to 10 residents and has been the base of essential residential and respite care since the mid-80s.

The renovation will be headed up by Renaissance Homes and is projected to cost approximately $2.6 million to build—so they’re going to need all the help they can get!

“With everyone’s support and help, the One Million Harts Campaign will aim to bring awareness and raise much-needed funds for the redevelopment of one of our first supported independent living communities,” says Eric.

Stay tuned for all the details on the upcoming fundraising events, but in the meantime, check out their website for more information on how your hart can make a difference.
