What if we told you there was an intimate wine bar where Canberra District wines could be sampled alongside a cheeseboard (or two) hidden away in the heart of Dickson?

Welcome to The Canberra Wine House. From the photos, we’d bet you’d never guess its real location—hidden inside The Quality Hotel in Dickson, amongst the streets of one of Canberra’s prime dining destinations.

For the uninitiated, The Canberra Wine House is one of the Inner North’s best-kept secrets—an intimate collection of dark wooden tables and couches nestled in cosy charcoal grey interiors that makes for the perfect after-work or pre-dinner location, with trivia soon to be added to the bar’s weekly offerings (watch this space).

Wanting to offer something distinctly local for wine enthusiasts, The Canberra Wine House launched their first exclusively Canberran cool climate wine region list in 2012 and they haven’t looked back, with the current list featuring big names that would make a wine lover weak at the knees.

Think: Helm Wines, Four Winds Vineyard, Clonakilla, Collector Wines, Nick O’Leary, MADA and more.

Of course, not everyone has had the opportunity to learn about wine or been introduced to Canberra’s specialities, which is the purpose of their Premium Seated Wine Tastings.

At these tastings, you’ll be guided through a curated selection of wines from the Canberra region, each offering unique flavours and characteristics. As you sip and swirl, you’ll learn about the rich history and diverse culture of the local wine industry as well as what foods each wine pairs well with.
