Forget perfume, chocolates or a new pair of slippers. You know what mum really wants…
If you’re a designer, artist, curator, or a business in any way connected to culture then now is the time to get cracking on an expression of interest for DESIGN Canberra.
If you’re keen on design and changing the way you think about the artistic side of the capital, then now is the time to book the innovative DESIGN Canberra Festival into your diary.
The festival is expanding and will this year be held over two weekends on the days from 21 to 29 November. Many events are free.
Last year’s DESIGN Canberra attracted 24, 000 visitors to 101 events presented by 460 individual participants in 2015.
Who said the capital isn’t bursting at the seams with creativity?
Feedback from the inaugural year saw Canberrans crying out for even more opportunity to visit the works by participating creatives. This year will also see greater focus on attracting national audiences.
DESIGN Canberra is accepting expressions of interest, which close 22 June, for:
- ACTivate — pop-up projects in empty shop fronts across the CBD, designed to bring energy to the city’s streets.
- Living Artists — open studios for Canberra-region artists, designers and industry, allowing creatives to connect directly with the public.
- Capital of Culture tours — directed by designers, architects, artists, historians curators and others keen to share insights into our designed city.
Avi Amesbury, DESIGN Canberra Creative Director says “We see DESIGN Canberra as a platform for excellence and innovation in design across all sectors. It’s a forum for unique design partnerships, projects and collaborations – a collective platform for Canberra’s creative communities.”
