Do you want to play a game? Australia’s largest gaming convention is on in Canberra this weekend

Posted on
We’ve rolled the dice, spun the wheel, and hit the bullseye to find you one of the most fun-filled and cheapest things to do in Canberra this weekend.
It’s called Cancon. And it’s Australia’s largest and longest-running tabletop games convention.
Featuring everything from miniature wargames tournaments to card games, board games and even role-play events, Cancon has long been a favourite for those who can’t refuse when asked, ‘Do you want to play a game?’
And the best part is, you can even enjoy it if you’re on a budget this long weekend.
Taking over EPIC from Saturday 25 until Monday 27 January, entry for spectators is free – but if you’d like to try your hand at a round, tournaments, card games, role-play and the games library have entry fees, which can be found on the website.
But that’s not all.
For those looking for something to play at home, there will also be trade stands, a board games library and more.
Opening at 8.30 am, you can literally spend the whole day at Cancon with the trade standing closing at 5.30 pm, the games library closing at midnight on Saturday and Sunday and most tournaments finishing between 5 pm and 7 pm.
Ideal for a fun day out, with over 80 trade stands across multiple halls, and just under 40 tournaments being run, grab your adventure party and get ready for some fun.
