Posted on

Think you’ve tried and tested all of Canberra’s play spaces? Think again, because we’ve found six new locations to take the kids.

Ideal for sparking their imagination and burning off excess energy, from new playgrounds to free indoor play areas, here are five new places the kids can play this summer.

Gardenland Kids Play Area (Woden)

Looking for a location for the little ones to play inside? Westfield Woden’s new Gardenland Kids Play area is now open with a charming and uniquely Canberran look. Designed for children aged one to six, it features dedicated zones for kids to climb, crawl and slide, perfect for letting them run around without being outside in the sun.

And with quintessential Canberra elements referencing Floriade, the Telstra Tower and the iconic hot air balloons, it’s also full of interactive sensory elements designed to encourage exploration and imagination. The best part? It’s free for all Westfield customers and here’s a dedicated parent zone with seating and pram parking!

Offering more than 85 cutting-edge arcade games (including the interactive game PIXEL that has taken TikTok by storm), laser tag, bowling and more, it sounds like we’ve found your family’s new favourite entertainment destination.

AdventureLand (Yarralumla)

It’s not new, but it does have a new extension, making the National Zoo and Aquarium’s AdventureLand a must-visit destination this summer.

Designed for children to experience the wonders of the natural world here, they can explore life-size fibreglass animal sculptures in a tropical garden setting, transporting their imaginations while educating them.

Now open with a new a fully accessible multi-level structure with ramps, trampolines arranged in a snake pattern, an inclusive spinner and a designated gated area for children under five known as ‘PugglePlay’, there’s something for every child to enjoy.

Denman Village Park (Denman Prospect)

Setting a new high bar for outdoor playgrounds, this astronomy-themed playground is so luxe, design-worthy and fun that you’ll want to brave the heat to take the kids here.

Think: constellations carved into the roof of a giant eight-metre dome modelled on the nearby Mount Stromlo Observatory, rope swings that look like planets, a moonscape sandpit and more. And with a café just a few metres away, you can thank us later.
