Splish splash: The Canberra Aqua Park is back!

Posted on

Grab your togs, Canberra. The lake’s coolest summer attraction is returning for 2020.

Yes, Canberra may not have a beach, but we sure do have an Aqua Park—and that’s more than good enough for us!

That’s right, Canberra Aqua Park will return for another summer of blow-up obstacle fun in the heart of Canberra on Saturday 28 November.

The 1,600 square metre inflatable obstacle course is located at the Tarcoola Reach swimming area (park at Black Mountain Peninsula), and from what we can tell, the same course as last year will be making a second appearance.

The Aqua Park was a big hit last year, with over 16,000 visitors putting on their cossies and slapping on the sunscreen for a day of aquatic fun on a course that featured obstacles, slides—oh, and an epic inflatable jumping pontoon.

Canberra Aqua Park will run through the warmer months and we bet it will be a popular spot for getting the kids out of the house over the school holidays, with 50-minute sessions starting from just $20 per person.

But don’t fret—those of you that are young at heart are most definitely welcome to partake in all the fun too as there is no age limit—although there is a minimum age of five.

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

  • You’ll have to fill out a safety waiver before you’re allowed on. You can download and pre-fill it to save time at the entrance.
  • Sessions are 50 minutes and start on the hour, every hour
  • You can do two sessions in a row—and it’s cheaper too, at $35 per person for two sessions
  • You should aim to arrive 30 minutes before your session, to sign in and be fitted for a life jacket (yes, everyone has to wear one)
  • Lifejacket rental is included in the ticket price
  • Kids under 10 must be accompanied on the inflatables at all times by a paying adult over the age of 18
  • All visitors must be able to swim
