Your little one is invited to six hours of free, unstructured play these school holidays

Playful Endeavour has returned to Glebe Park, promising hours of free fun for all ages.

One of the City Renewal Authority’s most beloved children’s events, Playful Endeavour is a free, all-day unstructured play event where kids can spend time making, creating and playing for as long as they like, however they like – and it’s back for the autumn school holidays from 15 – 26 April.

“We’ve brought Playful Endeavour back because it’s hugely popular with families and we know that children absolutely love it,” says Teresa Comacchio from the City Renewal Authority.

“This is an event that runs from 10 am to 4 pm daily and is completely free, so you can drop in at any time, and there’s just so much for kids to explore – huge crates of interesting stuff like tires, hoops, poles, soft play items like shapes for kids to climb.”

Having a toddler herself, Teresa says one of the best parts of Playful Endeavour is that children of any age or ability can think creatively outside the box. You might even discover a budding artist or architect at home.

“As a parent, I know there is so much value in children not being directed or nudged to a particular activity or type of play. We know an event like this gives them unobstructed freedom to explore as they like and walk towards the areas or the activities or the toys that they’re interested in…we know how much they benefit from having that freedom.”

Taking place in the north of Glebe Park, Teresa says the event will be easy to find from all entries to Glebe Park – all parents have to do is show up any day from 15 to 26 April.

“One of the reasons we love running this event in Glebe Park is because there’s so much space, which is great for families and groups of friends that are coming to visit with their children,” says Teresa.

“There’s also the permanent playground and play space and also barbecues, but it’s also so close to the city so it’s easy to grab a coffee on your way to Playful Endeavour, grab lunch on the way back or do a bit of shopping.”
