A music festival celebrating women—all for charity? It’s happening this weekend

Have you been missing live music? Want to support some amazing local charities? And do it all in a COVID safe way?
Meet Women Who Rock.
This Saturday 13 March, Canberra Women in Music and Milestone Entertainment are proud to present Women Who Rock—three shows, 11 bands, three charities, one day.
Celebrating International Women’s Day, this event showcases an array of local artists all while supporting those who need an extra hand.
Happening at Turner’s The Polo—the northside’s most up and coming music venue—from midday to midnight on Saturday, you’ll be spoiled for choice with three shows, each supporting a different cause and featuring a phenomenal line-up of local talent.
With the spark of an idea from Canberra Women in Music’s Lauren Melksham, along with Lee Grunswald from band Matriarch (who will perform this weekend) and entertainment industry veteran Nicky Green, Women Who Rock will support not one, not two, but three local charities across the day.

The first concert will support the Domestic Violence Crisis Service (DVCS) who for over thirty years have been providing emergency and long-term support, advice, resources and services to those in need, helping people to build lives free from domestic violence and fear.
Commencing at midday with DVCS’ own Glenda Stevens as MC, Lucy Ridge @ the Derby Widows, NTT Canberra, and the infamous Monica Moore Trio will take to the stage.

Next, Ana Key & the Underdogs, Sally Chicane, Chins and Box Dye will get you ready for a Saturday arvo boogie from 4 pm to raise money for Beryl Women Inc., which provides therapeutic support and safe housing to women and children escaping domestic and family violence in the ACT and surrounding region.
Finally, The Black Souls, Slagatha Christie and Matriarch will take guests into the night from 8.30 pm alongside 2CC announcer Jen Seyderhelm in the name of Karinya House, which provides immediate support for women who are pregnant or parenting babies and have nowhere else to turn.

Music, food, drinks, merch, and the opportunity to support local bands AND local charities?
How could you not get involved with something that not only tickles your ears and moves your dancing feet but donates proceeds to organisations working to support our locals?
