Flirty Thirsty Halloween Party, a Drum & Space Party and NYE 2024: The Vault’s program has been extended

Posted on

When blank space warehouse venue The Vault burst onto the Canberra scene earlier this year, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect.

In an era where legacy music festivals were being cancelled left and right, would The Vault’s vast space be filled? What was Canberra’s appetite for a 8 pm – 5 am laser-filled dance party in 2024? Was Dairy Road too far for people to travel?

Four months later and we have our answers: yes, big and no, respectively. In short, a new Canberra icon has been born. Despite being temporary – the space will one day become part of Dairy Road’s residential expansion – The Vault has proven itself one of Canberra’s most exciting and versatile venues, hosting sold-out techno parties, elevated wine and cheese markets, internationally-renown DJs, contemporary dance performances and even Canberra’s first ‘baby rave’ since it opened in May.

With creative and diverse programming from the team at Dionysus, investment in state of the art facilities and clever event management (buses taking revellers from Civic to Dairy Road and back for French DJ SkinOnSkin’s performance was a smart move), The Vault has managed to shine in an era where live events are being challenged on all fronts.

And now, a second line up of events has been announced, taking us all the way through to New Year’s Day 2025.

Highlights include the triumphant return of Bangin’ Beats and Bubbles, the aforementioned kid-friendly rave party, for a special Father’s Day Edition on Sunday 1 September, where families can bring their little ones to a small-ears-friendly dance party featuring bubbles, balloons, burgers and beers across the very reasonable timeslot of 2-4.30 pm.

Also in September, SPACE TIME!‘s immersive interstellar video experiences will return to The Vault for SPACE TIME!: Episode 2 which will run across two weeks of the September school holidays with a fresh slate of cinematic explorations of the cosmos, including an ‘immersive sci-fi party’ called Drum & Space on Saturday 28 September.

In October, The Vault will play host to the Canberra Art Biennial: Cruel Optimism where works will explore Queer realities through a variety of mediums with artist talks and special events will form part of the program across 17 October – 1 November.

Then in November, get down and flirty at A Flirty Thirsty Halloween Party, explore a plant-based symposium and listen to guest speakers at A Vegan State of Mind, party with your kidlets at the year’s final Bangin’ Beats and Bubbles and, later that night, party the night away at Township Rebellion, presented by Escape Ferocity and described as The Vault’s “most danceable party ever” with “uplifting melodies and basslines that hit just right”.

Finally, in December The Vault will be taking bookings for a truly unique alternative to a boring office Christmas party and see out 2024 in true The Vault style on Tuesday 31 December when “The Vault will be the only place to be when the clock strikes midnight”. Details coming soon.
