Whether you’re looking for a unique school holiday program for the kiddies or Q&A screenings with acclaimed directors, Canberra’s National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) has something for everyone in April.
Girls to the Front: Catherine Scott + Q&A (9-10 April)
In their third season of showcasing Australian female creative talent—with a specific focus on promoting under-represented cultures, ideas and voices—the NFSA welcomes documentary filmmaker Catherine Scott on
Across 9-10 April the NFSA is are excited to screen Scarlet Road and Country Town Pride, followed by a Q&A with herself and film subject, Rachel Wotton.

Australia in Colour Season 2 + Q&A (16 April)
Over 160 minutes of NFSA collection footage from 474 titles are part of this much anticipated second season, narrated by Hugo Weaving.
Producer Jo-Anne McGowan and NFSA Senior Digital Colourist Craig Dingwall will be available for a post-screening Q&A.

School Holiday Season: Classic Stories Come to Life (7-16 April)
Take a trip down memory lane with classic Disney animation and movies brought to life.
There will be Peter Pan for those who never want to grow up, save England with Sophie and The BFG, help Coraline solve the mystery of the mysterious door to the other world and many more adventures for kids big and small.

Saturday Morning Cartoons: Hop (3 April)

ANZAC Day Season (23-24 April)
Proudly commemorating those who have served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations, NFSA will be screening Peter Jackson’s immersive WWI documentary They Shall Not Grow Old and David Lean’s WWII adaptation of The Bridge on the River Kwai in glorious 35mm.

Mervyn Bishop: Australian Photojournalist (Until 1 August)
This new exhibition featuring the work of iconic photojournalist, Mervyn Bishop will be continuing through April to August.
This month they are inviting visitors to step behind the scenes with curators Coby Edgar and Tara Marynowsky.
Doco of the Month: Firestarter – The Story of Bangarra (22 April)
Celebrating Bangarra Dance Theatre’s 30th anniversary, filmmakers Wayne Blair and Nel Minchin tell the story of how three young Aboriginal brothers—Stephen, David and Russell Page—turned their newly born dance group into a First Nations powerhouse.
