Welcome to the essential guide to your weekend, Canberra, brought to you in partnership with…
Canberra Theatre Centre (CTC) is calling for new performance works from Canberra artists for a new development program fittingly titled ‘New Works’.
The New Works program will feature two separate residencies for either single performing artists or teams of artists which will take the form of both a one-week development residency and a four-week rehearsal and presentation residency in CTC’s Courtyard Studio.
The one-week residency is best suited to artists with fresh ideas to explore and will take place from 7-11 June, with the opportunity for an invite-only industry performance at the end of the residency.
The four-week residency is aimed at artists who are ready to rehearse and perform their work, with a residency commencing from 2-29 August which will result in five public performances.
With expressions of interest open from today, Canberra Theatre Centre Director Alex Budd says they’re excited to welcome fresh talent to their stage.
“We’re delighted to be opening EOIs today for these two opportunities,” he says.
“These will give our performance makers the best conditions to develop their work and their craft, and for us at CTC, to get ACT artists into the building and onto our stages.”
To be successful, applicants will need to demonstrate a clear and consistent connection to the ACT’s arts community as well as a record of delivering exceptional performances and at least initial ideas for what their residency project will entail.
