Just in time for Christmas (and Boxing Day trip to the movies), Canberra’s very own Dendy cinema will be revolutionising the moviegoing experience with the opening of a new IMAX® theatre.

The first cinema within Australia’s independent circuit to bring IMAX to local movie buffs, the new theatre at Dendy will feature IMAX with Laser technology (a next generation laser projection and multi-channel sound system exclusive to IMAX theatres), elevating the movie-going experience.
We’re talking crystal clear, lifelike images, precision audio to create the most premium viewing experience in the capital.
Opening to the public on Thursday 19 of December, the launch comes just in time for Christmas with an incredible lineup of blockbuster films locked in for the summer holiday season.
According to Sharon Strickland, the Chief Executive Officer of the Dendy Icon Group, the opening of the IMAX theatre marks a milestone moment for Canberra and Australia’s independent cinema circuit.
“Dendy Cinemas has been a cherished part of Canberra’s cultural fabric, proudly standing as the largest cinema in the territory. We are thrilled to introduce Canberra’s very first IMAX, elevating the movie-going experience for our loyal patrons,” she says.
