K-Pop is taking over Canberra Theatre Centre (and we’re obvs excited)

If you’ve ever found yourself deep in a late-night K-Pop spiral (just one more performance video… ok, maybe five…just me?), you won’t have to leave Canberra to get your fix this winter.
A brand-new K-Pop experience is landing at Canberra Theatre Centre this July – and it’s not your typical concert.
K-POP ICONS is being billed as a hybrid live show – part concert, part digital spectacle – blending holographic performers with a live dance crew on stage. Think high-energy choreography, massive visuals, and a production you’d expect from the genre that gave us BLACKPINK and BTS. And my kings, ATEEZ (you say obsession, I say personality trait).
At the centre of it all is a virtual K-Pop band (yes, really), brought to life through large-scale holograms, original vocals, and a full stage production. Backing them is an elite live dance crew – because it wouldn’t be K-Pop without razor-sharp choreography.
The show pulls inspiration from across the K-Pop universe – from global icons to newer acts and even virtual groups like K/DA. You can expect music inspired by BLACKPINK, ROSÉ, BTS and KATSEYE, plus a few fictional and emerging acts woven into the storyline.
Adding to the fun is that the show is interactive. Audience members are encouraged to vote for their favourite “Icon” during the performance, ultimately helping crown a winner by the end of the night. So yes, your bias might finally get the recognition they deserve.
So… should you go?
If you’re a K-Pop fan: yes. Obviously.
If you’re K-Pop curious: also yes.
And if you’re somewhere in between (you know at least one BLACKPINK song and have attempted a TikTok dance once): this might be your gateway.
