Kambri Family Film Fest: what not to miss

Posted on

Happening every weekend until Sunday 1 September, Kambri Family Film Fest gives you the chance to explore ANU’s new campus to the fullest.

What exactly is Kambri, you might ask? It’s the space formerly known as Union Court—the central meeting place of ANU campus. Located on University Avenue (a five-minute walk from City West), Kambri is a thriving hub of cafes, restaurants and boutique stores which blend harmoniously with brand new, state of the art university facilities.

The Kambri Family Film Fest aims to showcase all these features in an affordable and accessible way–with little ones at the centre of the action.

With one family film shown each Saturday and Sunday until 1 September, guests will be treated to free activities and storytelling at Harry Hartog bookstore, short film screenings from Channel Seven’s Little Big Shots kids’ talent show and, of course, screenings of classic and new family films in Kambri’s brand new Cultural Centre theatre.

Better yet, your $10 ticket* is redeemable at any of Kambri’s eateries or cafes and Kambri’s secure underground parking (located just under the Cultural Centre) has a flat rate of $5 all-day parking across the weekend. Ready to go? Here’s what not to miss.

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET – SATURDAY 17 AUGUST

Ralph and Vanellope are back—and this time, the challenge is a lot bigger than just one game. This time, the best friends will have to take on the whole internet, with hilarious and heart-warming consequences.

Saturday 17 August from 11 am with the film screened at 12.40 pm | Cultural Centre Kambri (ANU Building 153), University Avenue, Acton

SPACE JAM – SUNDAY 18 AUGUST

The original and the best, Space Jam is a 90s classic that is a must-watch for all kids, big or small. The tale of Michael Jordan and all your favourite Looney Tunes characters battling it out on the basketball court against a race of space invaders is a classic and we dare you not to be dancing along in your seat to the soundtrack.

Sunday 18 August from 11 am with the film screened at 12.40 pm | Cultural Centre Kambri (ANU Building 153), University Avenue, Acton

MAMMA MIA! – SUNDAY 25 AUGUST

The original and (in some people’s opinions), the best, Mamma Mia! takes ABBA’s classic hits and weaves them into a heart-warming musical about love, friendship and the importance of family.

With gorgeous Greek island scenery, Meryl Streep at her dramatic best and more sing-along opportunities than you can poke a cocktail at, Mamma Mia! is the ultimate musical day out.

Sunday 25 August from 11 am with the film screened at 12.40 pm | Cultural Centre Kambri (ANU Building 153), University Avenue, Acton
